Collin Kartchner Community Mental Health Event
Moab, Utah. On February 13, 2020, the Grand County School District will host motivational speaker Collin Kartchner to speak about social media and mental health. Collin will share his message with students during two student assemblies, one for 5th - 8th graders and another for 9th - 12th graders. In the evening, Collin will speak at a free event for parents and community members about how to help youth rise above the negative effects of social media. The evening event is open to all community members and will be held from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the Grand County High School (608 South 400 Moab, UT 84532).
The events are a part of Grand County School District’s efforts to address suicide and bullying prevention and provide community mental health education. Event partners and sponsors include the Grand County Education Foundation, Desert Rivers Credit Union, Southeast Utah Department of Health, Utah State University- Moab, Moab Regional Hospital, Red Cliffs Lodge, Hyatt House, and the Grand County School District.
Collin Kartchner is the co-founder of the Save the Kids Foundation (#SavetheKids), a non-profit that was established with the goal of raising awareness about the harmful effects that social media can have on self-esteem and self-worth. Collin is a nationally recognized speaker whose message focuses on how social media and gaming technology can harm developing brains and adversely affect mental health and well-being.
